A training to explore yoga throughout pregnancy — understanding the physical and physiological changes that take place, while also recognising pregnancy as an emotional and deeply personal transition.
Through movement, meditation, breathwork, visualisation and massage, we’ll explore how to create practices that support women through pregnancy, helping them connect with their changing bodies, their babies and their own experience of this particular moment in their lives.

THE SPACE ACADEMY
More than adapting yoga poses
Teaching prenatal yoga is about much more than knowing which poses to modify during pregnancy. Throughout the training, we’ll explore how pregnancy affects the body, and how a yoga practice can respond to those changes with care, curiosity and adaptability.
We’ll look at the anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, alongside movement, breathwork, meditation, visualisation and massage. We’ll explore how these different practices can support comfort, mobility, strength, rest and connection throughout pregnancy.
Rather than approaching pregnancy as a list of restrictions, we’ll focus on understanding what is changing and why — giving you the knowledge and confidence to make thoughtful choices and adapt your teaching to the person in front of you.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
Understanding prenatal yoga through different perspectives
Prenatal yoga brings together an understanding of the changing body with movement, breath, rest and connection. Throughout the training, we’ll move between anatomy and physiology, yoga practice, meditation, massage and teaching, exploring how these different elements can support someone through pregnancy.
You’ll have time to experience the practices in your own body, understand the reasoning behind different adaptations and gradually explore how to bring what you’re learning into your teaching.
Anatomy & Physiology of Pregnancy
Develop a practical understanding of the anatomical and physiological changes that take place throughout pregnancy. We’ll explore how the body adapts as pregnancy progresses, including changes to the musculoskeletal system, pelvic floor, abdominal wall, posture, balance, circulation and breathing.
We’ll look at how these changes can affect movement and the experience of yoga practice, as well as some of the common discomforts that can arise during pregnancy.
Rather than learning a fixed list of what pregnant students can and cannot do, we’ll use anatomy and physiology to understand why a practice might need to be adapted, giving you a foundation for making thoughtful choices for the individual in front of you.
Prenatal Yoga Practice & Adaptation
Explore how yoga practice can evolve throughout pregnancy, with movement that responds to the changing body rather than following a fixed set of modifications. We’ll work with familiar yoga postures alongside movements specifically chosen for pregnancy, exploring strength, mobility, stability and rest.
We’ll look at different ways to adapt postures using props, changes of position and variations, while considering comfort, energy levels and the different stages of pregnancy.
The focus is not on creating one version of “prenatal yoga”, but on developing the understanding and confidence to offer different possibilities and create a practice that can respond to the person in front of you.
Teaching Prenatal Yoga
Teaching prenatal yoga means creating a space where each person can listen to their body and make choices that feel appropriate for them. We’ll explore language and cueing, how to offer variations without overwhelming students, and how to communicate clearly around adaptations and different possibilities.
We’ll also look at the role of the teacher and the boundaries of that role — including when a question or concern sits outside our scope as yoga teachers and should be referred to an appropriate healthcare professional.
Throughout the training, the emphasis is on giving you the knowledge and tools to teach with confidence while leaving space for each person’s individual experience of pregnancy.
Sequencing & Class Planning
Learn how to build complete prenatal yoga classes that feel balanced, supportive and adaptable. We’ll explore how to bring together movement, strength, mobility, breathwork, relaxation and rest, while considering the changing needs and energy levels that can arise throughout pregnancy.
We’ll look at pacing, transitions and the practicalities of teaching a group where students may be at different stages of pregnancy and having very different experiences in their bodies.
You’ll explore different ways to plan a class without becoming fixed to a rigid sequence, giving you the tools to adapt what you teach while maintaining a clear structure and intention.
Breath, Meditation & Visualisation
Explore breathing practices, meditation, visualisation and relaxation techniques that can be integrated into prenatal yoga classes and practiced throughout pregnancy.
We’ll look at different ways these practices can support relaxation, body awareness and connection, as well as how some of them can be used in preparation for labour and birth. We will discuss the breath and its link to the pelvic floor muscles.
You’ll experience the practices yourself and explore how to guide them clearly and simply, giving you a range of tools that can be woven naturally into your teaching rather than treated as something separate from the physical practice.
Labour & Birth
Develop a practical understanding of the anatomy and physiology of labour and birth, including the different stages of labour and what is happening in the body as birth progresses.
We’ll explore positions and movements that can be used during labour, alongside breathing, sound, relaxation, massage and other practical tools that may support someone through the experience of birth.
We’ll also look at how these elements can be introduced during pregnancy and woven naturally into prenatal yoga classes, without turning the role of the yoga teacher into that of a birth professional.
Massage, Partner Work & Connection
Explore simple massage techniques and partner practices that can be shared during pregnancy and used as practical tools for relaxation, comfort and connection.
We’ll look at ways a partner can become involved through touch, movement, positioning and support, including techniques that may also be useful during labour.
Alongside the practical work, we’ll explore how prenatal yoga can create space for someone to connect with their changing body, their baby and their own experience of pregnancy.
Postpartum & Breastfeeding
The training also introduces the early postpartum period, helping you understand some of the physical and physiological changes that take place after birth and the realities of recovery during this time.
We’ll explore the basics of returning to movement and yoga after birth, including considerations around the pelvic floor, abdominal wall and changing energy levels, while recognising that recovery looks different for everyone.
We’ll also introduce some of the practical considerations around breastfeeding, giving you a broader understanding of the transition from pregnancy into the early postpartum period.
Practice & Teaching Experience
Throughout the training, you’ll move between learning, experiencing the practices yourself and exploring how to share them with others.
Through teaching exercises, observation and feedback, you’ll have opportunities to practice adapting postures, cueing, sequencing and bringing together the different elements of prenatal yoga in a complete class.
This practical experience gives you space to experiment, ask questions and gradually integrate what you’re learning, so that by the end of the training you feel prepared to begin bringing prenatal yoga into your own teaching.

HOW THE TRAINING WORKS
A hybrid training designed to give you time to learn, experience and integrate
The training combines in-person teaching in Paris with live online sessions, allowing us to explore the practical elements together while also giving you time between sessions to absorb and integrate what you’re learning.
Throughout the training, we’ll move between theory, discussion, movement, observation and teaching practice. Rather than separating anatomy and physiology from the practical work, we’ll continually bring the two together — exploring what is happening during pregnancy and how that understanding can inform the way we practice and teach.
The online sessions form part of the training itself, with opportunities to ask questions, discuss what you’re learning and continue exploring the course material together.
WHO THIS TRAINING IS FOR
A course for everyone
This training is designed for yoga teachers who want to begin teaching prenatal yoga or feel more confident welcoming pregnant students into their existing classes.
It can also be valuable for people working with pregnancy and birth who want to explore how yoga, movement, breath, meditation and relaxation can complement the work they already do, as well as expectant parents who would like to understand these practices more deeply for their own experience.
You don’t need previous experience of prenatal yoga, but a foundation in yoga practice is recommended. If you’re unsure whether the training is appropriate for your experience, you can contact us before registering and we can talk it through together.
THE TRAINING IN PRACTICE
In person & online
The 25-hour training combines in-person sessions at The Space Belleville with live online learning. The different formats allow us to spend the in-person time working practically together, while using the online sessions for theory, discussion and other parts of the course that work well at a distance.
During the in-person sessions, we’ll move regularly between learning and doing — exploring movement, adaptations, massage, partner work, breath, meditation and teaching practice rather than spending long periods sitting and taking notes.
Across both the in-person and online parts of the training, there will be plenty of time for questions, discussion and putting what you’re learning into context, gradually bringing the different elements together over the 25 hours.
YOUR TRAINING TEAM
Louise Cutler – Lead Trainer
Experience rooted in teaching, study and lived experience
Louise has been teaching yoga since 2013 and training teachers since 2018. She has also trained as a doula and has a particular passion for women’s bodies, pregnancy and birth, with an interest in traditional approaches to pregnancy and physiological birth.
Her teaching is also informed by her own lived experience. Through three pregnancies, including a miscarriage that she speaks about openly, she has experienced some of the physical and emotional complexity that can exist alongside pregnancy, birth and motherhood.
Throughout the training, Louise brings together anatomy and physiology, yoga, movement and her doula training with this lived experience. Her approach is centred on understanding and trusting the body, while recognising that every pregnancy and birth is individual and that a yoga teacher’s role is to support rather than prescribe.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A few things you might still be wondering
A prenatal yoga training naturally brings up practical questions — from previous experience and the hybrid format to certification, labour, postpartum and what you’ll be qualified to teach afterwards. Here you’ll find answers to some of the questions we’re asked most often.
Do I already need to be a yoga teacher?
No. The training is particularly relevant for yoga teachers who want to teach prenatal yoga or feel more confident welcoming pregnant students into their classes, but it is also open to people working with pregnancy and birth, and to expectant parents interested in exploring the practices for themselves.
Do I need previous experience of prenatal yoga?
No. You don’t need to have practiced prenatal yoga before joining the training. Some previous experience of yoga is recommended so that you already have a basic familiarity with yoga practice and movement.
Is the training entirely in person?
No. This is a hybrid training combining in-person sessions at The Space Belleville in Paris with live online sessions. Both parts form part of the 25-hour training.
Do I need to attend all of the sessions?
Yes. You’ll need to complete the full 25 hours, including both the in-person and online sessions, to complete the training and receive your certificate.
What language is the training taught in?
The training is taught primarily in English, with discussion, questions and individual support available in French.
Will we learn about labour and birth?
Yes. We explore the anatomy and physiology of labour, different stages of labour, positions and movement, alongside breath, sound, relaxation, massage and other practical tools that can be introduced during pregnancy and may also be useful during labour.
Does the training include postpartum yoga?
We introduce the early postpartum period, including some of the physical changes that take place after birth, the basics of returning to movement and yoga, and considerations around the pelvic floor, abdominal wall and breastfeeding. This is an introduction rather than a complete postnatal yoga teacher training.
Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. Following successful completion of the training and assessment requirements, you’ll receive a 25-hour Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training certificate from The Space Academy.
